Objection Handling & Response Library
Objection Handling & Response Library
Section titled “Objection Handling & Response Library”Objections are a natural part of the sales process. They signal engagement and provide an opportunity to address concerns, reframe the conversation, and demonstrate the value the WillDom ecosystem creates for clients.
This document provides a structured framework for categorizing buyers, handling objections by outcome type, and routing responses appropriately.
Buyer Categorization
Section titled “Buyer Categorization”Understanding the type of buyer helps determine the appropriate engagement strategy, messaging depth, and level of effort to invest.
Tier 1 — Direct Clients
Section titled “Tier 1 — Direct Clients”Technology companies building products and services that need qualified technical professionals to augment their teams. These are the highest-value engagement targets because the ecosystem provides direct value to their core technology operations.
Characteristics:
- Product or technology companies with active development teams
- Engineering leadership makes or influences hiring decisions
- Budget allocated for external technical talent or transformation initiatives
- High lifetime value and expansion potential
Tier 2 — Solution Companies
Section titled “Tier 2 — Solution Companies”Software development companies that build products for their own clients and need additional talent to scale their delivery capacity. These engagements often operate under fixed-price or project-based models on the client side.
Characteristics:
- Service or consulting companies with active project pipelines
- Need for specific skills or capacity during peak periods
- May require talent for shorter-term engagements
- Moderate expansion potential, typically cyclical
Tier 3 — Channel Partners
Section titled “Tier 3 — Channel Partners”Companies that add a markup to the ecosystem’s talent and introduce them directly to their end clients. While these engagements generate revenue, margin visibility and client relationship depth are more limited.
Characteristics:
- Intermediaries between the ecosystem and the end client
- Lower margin per engagement due to markup structure
- Limited direct client relationship
- Volume-based value rather than depth-based
Response Framework by Outcome
Section titled “Response Framework by Outcome”Every response to a lead or prospect falls into one of four categories.
Positive Response
Section titled “Positive Response”The lead expresses interest in learning more or engaging with the ecosystem.
Action:
- Schedule a call or meeting with the Branch Sales Leader or designated representative
- Offer specific time slots or share a scheduling link
- Share relevant materials (presentation, case studies) to prepare the prospect
- Log the interaction in HubSpot and update the Lead Status
Negative Response
Section titled “Negative Response”The lead clearly declines or indicates no interest.
Action:
- Acknowledge the response professionally
- Do not re-contact this individual unless they initiate future communication
- Update HubSpot Lead Status to “Not Interested”
- No follow-up required
Maybe / Deferred Response
Section titled “Maybe / Deferred Response”The lead indicates potential future interest but is not ready to engage now.
Action:
- Acknowledge and thank them for the response
- If a specific follow-up date is mentioned, set a reminder in HubSpot for that date
- Share relevant value materials (presentation, industry insights)
- If no date is specified, plan a follow-up in 2-3 months
- Update HubSpot Lead Status to “Bad Timing”
- When reconnecting, reference the previous conversation and provide a new value touchpoint
Wrong Person / Redirect
Section titled “Wrong Person / Redirect”The lead is not the right contact but may refer to someone who is.
Action:
- Thank them for the redirect
- Request an introduction or the referred contact’s information
- If an email is shared (not a direct introduction), send a message to both the referrer and the new contact to establish the relationship context
- Log the new contact in HubSpot with the referral source noted
Follow-Up Guidance
Section titled “Follow-Up Guidance”Effective follow-up maintains the relationship without creating friction.
Follow-Up Sequence
Section titled “Follow-Up Sequence”| Touchpoint | Timing | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| First follow-up | 5-7 days after initial message | Gentle check-in, add value |
| Second follow-up | 10-14 days after first follow-up | Permission-based (“is this still relevant?”) |
| Ongoing nurture | Monthly | Industry insight, company update, or proactive introduction |
Follow-Up Principles
Section titled “Follow-Up Principles”- Each follow-up should add value — new information, a relevant insight, or a useful resource
- Avoid repeating the same message; evolve the conversation
- Include a clear but low-pressure call to action
- After sufficient follow-up attempts without response, move the contact to nurture status
